The ALIVE National Centre is proud to present the next instalment of Ready, Set, Translate: The ALIVE Mental Health Research Virtual Café Translation Conversations, on Thursday 2 May 2024, 1pm – 2pm (AEST).

The conversation will be hosted by the Co-Design Living Labs network, and will feature Josh Reid Jones speaking on the topic The Just Be Nice Project.

The “Just Be Nice Project” (JBNProject) works to provide housing, employment, and good mental health for disadvantaged individuals, aiming to enhance equality of opportunity. As a social enterprise, JBNProject collaborates with organizations to mobilize resources effectively, stressing the power of collective action and utilizing available skills. It seeks to change attitudes towards positive change, emphasizing skill and resourcefulness in aiding those in need. JBNProject is for individuals and organizations looking to make a positive impact, challenging current charity paradigms and promoting equality of opportunity. Ultimately, it aims to revolutionize approaches to societal challenges through collaboration and innovative solutions.

About the speaker:

Josh Reid Jones is a social impact professional and social entrepreneur. From a childhood marked by poverty, violence, and challenging circumstances to a purpose-led life, founding the Just Be Nice project with the aim of changing the way that people help people; until they are housed, employed and have positive mental health outcomes. Josh works daily to engage businesses, schools, organisations and communities in the process of creating extraordinary positive change in the world, through making ordinary positive change. A non-executive director of one of Tasmania’s largest social service providers, an RUOK Day ambassador and recipient of a range of awards and scholarships for outstanding contributions to social impact and non-profit leadership, Josh’s life represents his lifelong commitment to excellence in social impact and equality of opportunity.
