This project aims to investigate differences in COVID-19 and influenza vaccination rates between Australians with and without severe mental illness.
This project will help develop models of care to address barriers to access, ways to reduce stigma, and the identification of the systemic requirements for the delivery of high-quality mental-physical healthcare to priority populations. This meets what our lived-experience members highlighted as important priority areas to addressing social determinants and social issues.
Since receipt of ALIVE National funding, the research team have successfully obtained Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) from Metro South HREC, The University of Queensland HREC, and The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) HREC to conduct this research. We have also obtained approval from the Queensland Public Health Act (PHA) and AIHW Linkage Team to have state-based and national Commonwealth data sources extracted and linked to address the projects’ aims. Additionally, the project has been registered as an observational study on the Australian & New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ACTRN12624000117516).
